I started The Savvy Business Seller because many of my former clients started to ask what they should do about selling their business. Many had no idea where to start.
A little back story: I’m Nick West, and I started my own consulting and coaching firm 15 years ago (Enable Business Consulting), working with small/medium sized businesses wanting to grow, become more profitable, acquire other businesses and for the owners to improve their work/life balance.
The expectation was for me to join the family engineering firm, and along with my cousins, take over from my Dad and his brothers, who in turn had taken over from my grandparents who had started the company.
Instead, before I had even left university, the business was sold, in what was a really poor deal. It was undervalued and the buyer never even paid them out in full!
After graduating (in engineering) from London University, I qualified as a Chartered Accountant (CPA) and specialised in strategic planning and business development with PwC, one of the worlds top accounting and consulting firms. Since the early 1990’s, I have worked with entrepreneurs to grow highly profitable businesses and sell them. I moved to Canada in early 2000’s and with my wife set up our own businesses on Vancouver Island.
I help small businesses grow, raise substantial capital for expansion, restructure, buy other businesses and most importantly change ownership, passing to younger generations, external buyers and bring in partners to breathe in new life.
